iOS 10, released on Thursday, makes $99.99 per iOS device, according to Apple’s own estimate, surpassing its previous mark of $97.99 a device in October.
The company said it was making a $100 million profit for its iOS 10 release.
This means the iOS 10 iOS 10 app was downloaded more than 6.6 billion times, a record for the iOS software, Apple said.
Apple made the iOS release in a bid to push back against the growth of the Android and Windows mobile platforms.
While Apple’s mobile operating system is currently dominating the market, analysts have said that Android and iOS may soon overtake the Apple mobile operating systems.
Earlier this year, the firm released a jailbreak software update to unlock the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s.
The update, dubbed JB-2, allowed users to install a jailbroken version of the OS on the phones.
Apple’s iOS release comes just three weeks after the iPhone 5 was released.
Android and iOS have been the two most popular mobile operating platforms in the world for the past year.
In July, Apple unveiled a jailbreaking tool, called Kext, which allowed users on a variety of phones to unlock their phones without using jailbreaking software.
Apple was able to gain market share from other companies after the release of the iPhone, but the company was not able to capture the $1 billion market share it had in the past two years.
