Xiaomi smartphones are getting a makeover.
The Chinese smartphone maker is set to acquire UK company TCL for £9 million ($14.4 million).
The transaction is expected to close early next year.
It will be the first time a UK company has bought a Xiaomi smartphone, which was acquired by the Chinese company from its parent company in 2010.
The move comes amid a global smartphone boom.
In February, Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 5 topped the US smartphone charts.
Its market share has continued to grow.
Its smartphone division has grown to more than 50% of all smartphones sold in the UK.
In September, Xiaomi announced it had raised $1.5 billion in a new financing round led by Baidu.
The company is now valued at $13 billion.
